Member Spotlight: Mike Wilcox of South Shore Savings Bank Elected to Arc of South Shore Board of Directors

 

Michael J. Wilcox, a Business Development Officer at South Shore Savings Bank's Braintree office, has been elected to the board of directors of the Arc of the South Shore.

Based in North Weymouth, the Arc of the South Shore provides the highest quality services and advocacy for children and adults with cognitive, physical, and other intellectual and developmental disabilities. A longtime volunteer with the Arc, Mr. Wilcox's involvement with the organization has included developing a pilot program to teach financial concepts to the individuals served by the Arc, and serving as speaker at the 2011 Legislative Breakfast. In addition, his two sons, Matty and Anthony, both have benfited from the services of the Arc of the South Shore.

Mike Wilcox is a dedicated member of the South Shore Chamber. He served as Chairman of the Braintree Business Council in 2010, is a Chamber Ambassador and has served on the Chamber's Board of Directors.

South Shore Savings Bank Presents 2011 Citizenship Award to South Shore High School Graduates

Eleven recent graduates if South Shore high schools have been presented with the 2011 South Shore Savings Bank Citizenship Award, which is given each year to graduating seniors selected by their schools as outstanding citizens. The awards were presented during ceremonies at the Bank's South Weymouth headquarters attended by the students and their parents.

Established in 1992, the South Shore Savings Bank Citizenship Award is a $500 cash awards. Award recipients are chosen primarily because they:

• have made each of their schools a better place because they were part of it;
• have demonstrated a commitment and concern for the community;
• have displayed personal qualities of sincerity, responsibility and conscientiousness; and
• are residents of Braintree, East Bridgwater, Hanover, Norwell, Pembroke, Quincy, Stoughton or Weymouth.

The winners of the 2011 South Shore Savings Bank Citizenship Award, and their schools, are: Damani Barboza of Stoughton, Stoughton High School; Heather Coggeshall of Braintree, Weymouth Evening High School; Alissa Conti of East Bridgewater, Weymouth Evening High School; Christopher DiTullio of Hanover, Hanover High School; Lindsey Foley of Braintree, Braintree High School; Olivia Harvey of East Bridgewater, East Bridgewater High School; Robert Kozlowski of Quincy, Quincy High School; Jennifer Salas of Pembroke, Pembroke High School; Andrew Sheridan of Weymouth, Weymouth High School; Katelyn Sprague of East Bridgewater, South Shore Christian Academy; and Rachael Wolfson of Norwell, Norwell High School.

"South Shore Savings Bank is pleased to recognize these exceptional members of the Class of 2011 with our Citizenship Award," said John C. Boucher, President and Chief Executive Officer of South Shore Savings Bank. "Their schools have chosen them from among their peers because they exemplify what it means to be good citizens of both their schools and their communities."

Member Spotlight: Blum Shapiro gives back to five deserving South Shore nonprofit organizations

 

 
 

Blum, Shapiro & Company P.C., a Chamber Partner, honored five South Shore community organizations with $2,000 donations at an event at the Neighborhood Club last Wednesday night. The five organizations, all members of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce, included Father Bill's & Mainspring, Road To Responsibility, Friendship Home, Neighborhood Housing and Arc of the South Shore. These lucky organizations were chosen by an independent panel of local community leaders.
