“Star of the day, who will it be?” If you are a Verizon customer, it could be you.
Verizon customers who grew up in New England may remember that catchy phrase as the theme song of the popular TV show “Community Auditions.” Now they can enter a contest for a chance to be on the show.
Community Auditions, which originated in Boston in 1950, is New England’s longest-running TV show and a forerunner of today’s wildly popular national TV talent shows.
To enter the contest, Verizon customers must submit an audio or video clip of their singing or on-air talents by Nov. 14 at the Community Auditions website (www.communityauditions.com). Six winners will be announced on the website on Nov. 19. Three of the winners will be among the singing contestants on the talent show, while the other three will perform on-air duties, either as a co-host or backstage interviewer.
The show will be taped on Dec. 5 at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut. The six winners will be VIP guests of the show and treated to a stay at the resort for the weekend. In addition, Verizon will make a donation to the Institute for Music and Neurologic Function in the name of each winner.
Information is available at the Verizon kiosk at South Shore Plaza.
Eligible contestants must be Verizon FiOS, High Speed Internet or landline voice customers in Massachusetts or Rhode Island.
