South Shore Chamber welcomes Charlie Baker, GOP candidate for Governor, at May 12 Breakfast

2010 is shaping up to be a particularly active and contentious election year. The South Shore Chamber of Commerce is planning a series of events between now and November to give the business community plenty of opportunity to hear from the candidates and to make sure the candidates hear from the business community.

First at bat is Charlie Baker, the Republican candidate for governor. He will address the Chamber at a 7:44 Breakfast on Wednesday, May 12 at Lombardo's in Randolph. NECN Political Report Alison King will moderate the Q&A following Mr. Baker's address.

As of March 1st, strict new Massachusetts regulations (201 CMR 17.00) require all companies that maintain "personal information" about their employees, customers, or others to protect that information from hackers and accidental disclosure.  They also require you to have a Written Information Security Program (WISP) that details the processes you take to secure that information in your files and especially on your computers and networks.

The Quincy Business Council heard from City Councilor John Keenan that the city's budget is balanced for the current fiscal year, but next year will be a challenge. "We're surviving. It's not pretty, it's not easy," the ways & means committee chairman said.
He also briefed the Business Council on the effort to recodify the city's zoning ordinance. He said the new zoning would encourage more business investment in Wollaston Center and North Quincy.
